Edward Scully
U.S. Army Officer, Vietnam War Veteran, Special Forces "A" Commander,
Management Team at Summit Aviation

Edward Scully was a local guy. He grew up in Wilmington, graduated from Salesianum High School, and joined the Army National Guard Reserves. He transitioned to the United States Army where he served for 27 years and retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Ed served his country during the
Vietnam War, serving as a Special Forces "A" Team Commander.

Ed was no ordinary solider, earning his Special Forces Combat patch and was, a Green Beret. After the war, he attended flight school and was rated in helicopters and later on became fixed wing qualified. Prior to his retirement, Ed served as the Rotary Wing Commander at Davison Army
Airfield D, as Deputy Director for Aviation, Training and Doctrine Command, and as the Deputy Inspector General of the U.S. Atlantic Command .

Ed received many awards and decorations during his years serving in the Army including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star—Valor, Bronze Star— Service, and other notable awards. Throughout his career and the decades that have followed, Ed has been referred to as a great American, but his heroism, support and love of country did not stop when he left the Army.

After retiring back in Delaware, Ed's support of the Armed Forces and country continued. He began his second career at Summit Aviation in Middletown, DE. Ed began several programs with various military and government agencies to support the troops and create the right aviation support in the field and in the war, along with the team at Summit. He also supports the local community in Delaware. Summit Aviation was an early supporter of the Delaware State Police Aviation Branch, eventually building a hangar on site and providing all necessary aircraft maintenance. To this day,
Summit Aviation is a top employer of veterans in the state. Ed subsequently retired from Summit Aviation in June 2013 after 25 years, but continued to assist at Summit Aviation advising the leadership team.

There are few people who can say that they have dedicated their lives to their country, but Ed can. He served his country for 56 years, both in military and civilian life. He is a true American hero.
