Chief Master Sergeant Amy Campbell (Ret.) has devoted over 27 years of distinguished service to the United States Air Force Reserve, a1l while stationed at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. Enlisting in 1997 as an aircraft loadmaster, she has logged more than 7,800 flight hours and earned over 50 awards and decorations, including 12 Meritorious Service Medals, an Air Medal, and campaign honors for service in Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, and beyond.
A pioneer in a traditionally male-dominated field, Chief Campbell became Dover's first C-17 Examiner Loadmaster and one of few reservists to qualify, on both the C-5 Galaxy and C-17A Globemaster III aircraft. Her leadership was instrumental in transitioning the 326th Airlift Squadron from the C-5 to the C-17 platform, training 18 combat-ready aircrews who supported Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.
Throughout her career, Chief Campbell has exemplified innovation and excellence. She led Dover's first blended Active-Reserve Airlift Rodeo team to a first-place international finish and modernized Air Force operations by introducing electronic mission kits-saving her wing more than $100,000 in one year and setting a standard adopted across the Air Force. With over 600 combat hours and 389 combat support hours, she has flown missions under fire and in emergency conditions, earning recognition for decisive leadership and courage.
Even after being grounded due to a recurrence of cancer, Chief Campbell continued advancing aviation readiness, creating new tactical training programs and managing multimillion-dollar operations. Having contributed to every major U.S. military operation since 1997, she stands as one of Delaware's most accomplished aviators-an innovative leader, mentor, and proud representative of the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
